When you have outgrown shared living, a flat is the next step — your own kitchen, your own door, space for family or a partner. The catch in Delhi is usually brokerage: one to two months’ rent, just to be shown a place. You can skip that by renting direct.

Why rent a flat direct

  • No brokerage — that is one to two months’ rent saved
  • You deal with the owner, so the terms are clear from day one
  • You see every available flat, not only the ones a broker pushes
On LSC there is no brokerage on flats either. You see the flat, then contact the owner directly.

What it costs

Flats for rent in Delhi on LSC start from about ₹5,000 a month and rise with size, furnishing and area. A 1BHK, 2BHK or a builder floor each sit at different price points. Browse live listings on the Delhi flats page.

Documents you will usually need

Keep these ready so a good flat does not slip away:

  • Your ID proof (Aadhaar / passport)
  • A couple of passport photos
  • Employment or college proof, sometimes
  • For some societies, a police verification form (the owner helps with this)

Deposit and rent norms

  • Deposit: often two to three months’ rent for a flat (more than a PG)
  • Rent cycle: monthly, usually due on a fixed date
  • Maintenance: ask whether society maintenance is included or extra
  • Notice period: commonly one month either way

What to check before you sign

  1. Water supply and pressure, and power backup
  2. Who pays maintenance, and how much
  3. Parking, if you need it
  4. The condition of fittings — photograph everything on move-in
  5. A written rent agreement with every number in it

For the agreement itself, our guide on what to check before you sign applies to flats too.
