The best PG in Bangalore is the one closest to your office. Bengaluru's tech parks are spread across the city, and traffic around junctions like Silk Board can turn a short distance into a long ride. Start with your office location, then pick the neighbourhood, then the PG.

Getting around Bangalore

  • Metro: the Purple Line reaches Whitefield in the east, and the Yellow Line runs along Hosur Road towards Electronic City.
  • Office buses and shuttles: many tech parks run them. Ask HR about routes before you choose an area.
  • Bike taxis and autos: quick for short trips but slow at peak hours.

If your office and PG are on the same side of the Outer Ring Road, your daily life gets much easier.

Moving to Bangalore: first-week tips

  • Ask your office about shuttles before you sign anything; a PG on a shuttle route can save you hours every week.
  • Try the commute at 9 am and 7 pm. Bengaluru traffic is very different at peak hours.
  • Learn a few Kannada words. People appreciate it, and it helps with autos and local shops.
  • Keep an umbrella handy. Rain can arrive quickly in many months of the year.
  • Check the water situation in your building, especially in the summer months, when some areas depend on tankers.
  • Save the PG's full address with a landmark. Many Bangalore addresses are easier to find by landmark than by number.

What to check before you take a PG in Bangalore

  1. The commute at peak hour. Try it once at 9 am before deciding.
  2. Food. Ask whether the menu suits you and whether meals are cooked on site.
  3. Water supply. Ask whether the PG depends on tanker water and how reliable it is.
  4. What the rent includes. Wi-Fi, laundry, housekeeping and electricity vary.
  5. Security and rules. Check the gate, CCTV and entry timings.
  6. Agreement and receipts for the rent, deposit and notice period.
